Pune Metro passengers are complaining of network issues at Swargate underground metro station that are creating problems while purchasing an e-ticket and making UPI payment.

A huge number of passengers have been visiting Swargate station but due to its underground location, it is not able to receive good mobile network which is crucial for the ticketing system. Commuters are high on frustration over being left high and dry without e-ticket booking and UPI payments at vending machines and have to settle for cash or cards. There is now the demand to shift the ticketing system above ground where network connectivity is stable.

Though other Pune Metro stations are doing well, Swargate is not as reliable in connectivity and hence long queues are being seen, wasting precious time of the commuters.

A one-time daily commuter said that when network failure occurred, she has to stand in the line waiting and could not make payments through UPI. A college student remarked that cash and cards were only available choices at the station, and he pleaded with the metro authorities to shift their vending machines to a place where there is a better network.

Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director (Administration and Public Relations) of Pune Metro, said that the problem is under scrutiny, and appropriate measures would be taken after studying the issue.
